Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) is a leading independent school group ("friskola") with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. IES Eskilstuna is one of the largest schools in Sweden with 1,185 students enrolled in grades F-9 and approx 125 staff members.
Tjänsten innebär i huvudsak arbete med läsning och läsfrämjande, språkutveckling, medie- och informationskunnighet. Uppdraget innebär också att uthålligt, systematiskt och i linje med forskning och skolans styrdokument, förflytta synen på skolbiblioteket som en fysisk plats till att vara hela skolans angelägenhet och ett verktyg i det systematiska kvalitetsarbetet för att öka elevernas måluppfyllelse.

Du är mycket trygg i mötet med elever i alla åldrar och trivs med att undervisa grupper eller klasser på egen hand. Vem är du?
- Du pluggar eller har examen i biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap eller motsvarande
- Meriterande med tidigare erfarenhet av att arbeta som skolbibliotekarie i grundskola
- Du har goda kunskaper i litteratur och informationssökning, GDPR och integritet vid hantering av användardata.
- Du har förståelse för skolans läroplan och hur biblioteket kan stötta elevernas lärande
- Du formulerar dig väl i tal och skrift på både svenska och engelska samt har hög digital kompetens
- Du har även en god pedagogisk förmåga där du har förståelse för hur elever tar till sig kunskap och deras olika förutsättningar

IES Eskilstuna is currently seeking a school librarian who is eager to work with a strong focus on the school’s educational mission. The position is a full-time temporary post, starting in March 2026.
The role primarily involves working with reading and reading promotion, language development, and media and information literacy. The assignment also includes working persistently and systematically—aligned with research and the school’s governing documents—to shift the perception of the school library from being merely a physical space to becoming a shared responsibility across the entire school and a key tool in the systematic quality improvement process aimed at increasing students’ academic achievement.
As a person, you are driven and development-oriented. You are outgoing and able to engage with both students and colleagues in a positive and solution-focused manner. You are very confident in interacting with students of all ages and enjoy teaching groups or classes independently. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to take initiative and, depending on needs and circumstances, work independently or collaboratively. Who are you?
- You are studying or have a degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent
- Previous experience working as a school librarian in compulsory school is considered an asset
- You have strong knowledge of literature and information retrieval, GDPR, and data privacy when handling user data
- You understand the school curriculum and how the library can support student learning
- You communicate well verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English and have a high level of digital competence
- You also have strong pedagogical skills and an understanding of how students acquire knowledge and their varying needs and abilities
